Description
This is an image from my latest project at uni - we were each provided with a shop (I chose 'classical music recording shop', woo-hoo!) and then had to go and sketch it and study it in all aspects. So off I went to Dress Circle, my fave theatre shop (yes I realize it's cheating slightly, but hey, there's opera too 
) They were brilliant in there and let me take photos and everything, as well as being incredibly friendly - cheers guys!
This image is the monochrome one; I wanted it to focus on the fantastic railings that are outside the shop. They're very intricate and beautiful, and in a sense I thought they resembled how classical music would look. The border represents the more theatrical aspects.
Done on manuscript paper with fineliner and ink.

excellent, excellent, excellent interplay of patterns, shading, and contours! I especially like the soft-blotchy texture on the curtains and the 'leaves', and the intricate shading of the vertical stripes at the bottom.
And I completely agree, that is how classical music would look!
